BETTY JUNE HYATT
Betty June Hyatt, 94, a thirty-two year resident of Bullhead City, Ariz., died Saturday, February 24, 2018.
She was born January 22, 1924 in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Betty met her husband LaVerne in the summer of 1941 on the way to the town carnival. He walked her home from the carnival that night, and the rest is history. They were married six months later on February 11, 1942 in Papillion, Nebraska. (In 2012, they were honored by the Mohave Valley Daily News as the longest married couple in Mohave County). The couple lived in Council Bluffs, Iowa where they had their three children.
In 1952, the family moved to Southern California. They settled in Downey, California where they raised their children and developed lifelong friendships with the families on the block. In 1986, they retired to Bullhead City.
Betty was a devoted housewife, mom, and grandma and will be missed dearly by her family. Mom and Dad, we’ll love and miss you always!
She was preceded in death by her husband of 74 years, LaVerne Hyatt;
Betty is survived by her son, Darrell Hyatt; two daughters, Kathleen Guthrie and Grace Hale; eight grandchildren; and numerous great and great-great grandchildren.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to all the wonderful volunteers at Meals on Wheels, and the caring staff and nurses from Hospice Compassus and Beacon of Hope Hospice.
