John D. Whiteford, age 83, of Fort Mohave , AZ passed away in Las Vegas, NV on October 19, 2018. Born to John Delwin Whiteford and Lorna Phyllis McConnell on January 27, 1935 in Flint, Michigan. John retired from the US Navy as a Chief Petty Officer, receiving a Bronze Star during his service in the Vietnam War. After the US Navy, he joined the Fleet Reserve ASSN. He enjoyed golfing, in which he hit 2 hole in ones, playing pinnacle, and spending time with his family and friends. John is survived by his devoted wife, Ikuko; son, Colin; daughter, Naomi (Joe); grandchildren, Sokon, Ri, Jack, Keiko, Aiko, and Paton; and siblings, Phyllis, Ginger, Tom, Janet, Basil, Vincent, and Cheryl. The family will be receiving guests on Wednesday, November 28, 2018 from 10:00 am-12:00 pm at Desert Lawn Funeral Home 9250 S. Ranchero Lane Mohave Valley, AZ 86440. A Rosary will be recited at 9:30 am on Thursday, November 29, 2018 at St. Margaret Mary’s Catholic Church 1691 N. Oatman Rd. Bullhead City, AZ 86442 with a Funeral Mass to immediately follow at 10:00 am. Graveside Services to be held at Desert Lawn Memorial Gardens in Mohave Valley at 11:30 am.

John touched many lives and will be truly missed by all those who were honored to know him and who loved him.
